    Friday 3/23 & Saturday 3/24 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.: Friends of the Pierson Library Book Sale: Join the Friends of the Pierson library at their book sale in the Historic Town Hall.

    Book Donations

    Thank you everyone who has generously donated to the Friends of the Pierson Library book sale. We will  stop accepting donations on Saturday March 17th in preparation for the Friends of the Pierson Library book sale on Friday March 23rd and Saturday March 24th. After this year’s book sale we will not be accepting donations again because of our impending move to a temporary location while the Historic Town Hall is being renovated and the new library is being built. The Friends of the Pierson Library and the Pierson Library thank everyone who has donated and participated in the book sale and we look forward to hosting them again when we are back in our newly renovated and built space.

    “Before the Flood”

    Enjoy a free showing of the movie “Before the Flood” by Leonardo DiCaprio,  Saturday March 10th at 7:00 p.m. The film talks about climate change. Donations are accepted for 350.org.

    Relationships Across Difference: A Conversation Series with Fran Stoddard: Bridging Faiths | March 7 | 6:30pm – 8:00pm All Souls Interfaith Gathering

    Join moderator Fran Stoddard, Vermont PBS producer/host, for a provocative three-part series exploring relationships across difference. Distinguished guests will discuss difference from diverse perspectives and how engagement with the natural world, each other, and diverse spiritual traditions may bridge the divide. The series is a collaboration between All Souls Interfaith Gathering, Pierson Library, Shelburne Farms, and Shelburne Museum. Supported in part by the Vermont Humanities Council, with media sponsorship from RETN Vermont, Channel 16.

    The evening’s guests include Kaylynn Sullivan TwoTrees, creator of Practice for Living/Living Practice, Basu Dhakal and Bidur Dahal, two of the founding directors of the Vermont Hindu Temple and Melissa Ann O’Brien, Pastor of Pawlet Community Church and a hospice chaplain for Visiting Nurse and Hospice of VT and NH.

    The War of 1812 in the Champlain Valley

    Monday February 19th at 7:00 p.m.: The Shelburne Historical Society and the Pierson Library will host Willard Sterne Randall, author of The War of 1812 in the Champlain Valley.

    The event will be hosted in the Historic Town Hall attached to the Pierson Library.

    Bond Passed!

    The Library Board of Trustees is delighted that the bond issue funding the New Library and Town Center Project PASSED! We would like to thank everyone in Town for their support and are looking forward to the next steps of bringing this dream to a reality. Please watch for announcements as we move ahead. Thank you!

    Wear Your Heritage

    Tuesday 11/7 at 6:30 p.m.: Wear Your Heritage: Contemporary Abenaki artists and tribal members talk about the meaning of garments, accessories, and regalia in their own lives and in the expression to the community and tribal identity. The program will be in the Historic Town Hall.
