    Relationships Across Difference: A Conversation Series with Fran Stoddard: Bridging Faiths | March 7 | 6:30pm – 8:00pm All Souls Interfaith Gathering

    Join moderator Fran Stoddard, Vermont PBS producer/host, for a provocative three-part series exploring relationships across difference. Distinguished guests will discuss difference from diverse perspectives and how engagement with the natural world, each other, and diverse spiritual traditions may bridge the divide. The series is a collaboration between All Souls Interfaith Gathering, Pierson Library, Shelburne Farms, and Shelburne Museum. Supported in part by the Vermont Humanities Council, with media sponsorship from RETN Vermont, Channel 16.

    The evening’s guests include Kaylynn Sullivan TwoTrees, creator of Practice for Living/Living Practice, Basu Dhakal and Bidur Dahal, two of the founding directors of the Vermont Hindu Temple and Melissa Ann O’Brien, Pastor of Pawlet Community Church and a hospice chaplain for Visiting Nurse and Hospice of VT and NH.

    The War of 1812 in the Champlain Valley

    Monday February 19th at 7:00 p.m.: The Shelburne Historical Society and the Pierson Library will host Willard Sterne Randall, author of The War of 1812 in the Champlain Valley.

    The event will be hosted in the Historic Town Hall attached to the Pierson Library.

    Bond Passed!

    The Library Board of Trustees is delighted that the bond issue funding the New Library and Town Center Project PASSED! We would like to thank everyone in Town for their support and are looking forward to the next steps of bringing this dream to a reality. Please watch for announcements as we move ahead. Thank you!

    Wear Your Heritage

    Tuesday 11/7 at 6:30 p.m.: Wear Your Heritage: Contemporary Abenaki artists and tribal members talk about the meaning of garments, accessories, and regalia in their own lives and in the expression to the community and tribal identity. The program will be in the Historic Town Hall.

    Life as Poetry, Poetry as Life

    Join us on Thursday Nov. 2nd at 3:00 p.m. for Poetry as Life, Life as Poetry: Join local poets Sarah W. Bartlett and Anne Averyt reading from their recent collections. Participate in conversation about the resiliency of the human spirit living life as poetry, writing the poetry of  life.

    Sponsored by the Pierson Library, Charlotte Library, and Carpenter Carse Library.

    Friends of the Pierson Library Book Sale

    The Friends of the Pierson Library will be hosting their annual book sale schedule of events is as follows:

    Thursday Oct. 5th: Friends of the Pierson Library preview sale: 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.  Book Dealers preview sale: 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

    Friday Oct. 6th: The book sale hours will be 9:00 a.m – 5:00 p.m.

    Saturday Oct. 7th:  The book sale hours will be 9:00 a.m – 5:00 p.m.

    Don’t forget on Saturday Oct. 7th the Shelburne Fire Department will be hosting their annual pancake breakfast.

     

    Breakfast Club

    Saturday 9/23rd 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.: Breakfast Club – Aspiring writers ages 11 and up meet at the library to exercise their imagination and hone their writing skills over breakfast!  Sharing work with the group is encouraged but not required! Call to register at 985-5124

    Family Game Strategy Afternoon!

    Saturday September 16th 12:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.: Family Game Strategy: Host Beth Jenkins will bring a variety of board games from around the world for all levels, ages and abilities! Laugh and make memories while trying out a new game or two with friends and family!
