Town Meeting: It’s Just Around the Corner!

Have you been following the new Library Center project? Do you want to learn more about this exciting project? Library representatives will have a table at both of theTown Meeting events (Monday evening  March 6th and all day Tuesday March 7th). Come visit us and learn more about the project and get a close up look at both the site design and the floor plans!

We can provide details about the town wide survey which will be mailed in March and we’ll tell you how you can win one of 3 randomly drawn $100 cash cards just by mailing in your completed survey!

Youth Trustee Openings

Youth Trustee Positions Open on the Library Board of Trustees

The Library Board of Trustees has an opening for a youth Trustees for the 2017-2018 term. Interested applicants must be resident(s) of Shelburne and in grades 9 to 12 during the 2017-18 academic year. We are searching for young library supporters to help us create a vision for our 21st Century Library, and high school students are uniquely qualified to assist us in this exciting adventure!

The Library Board of Trustees is charged with supervising the Library Director, establishing Library policies and procedures, determining and requesting the annual Library budget, and guiding the future of the Library through long-term strategic planning. The Board is composed of seven residents of Shelburne.

The Trustees meet monthly on the third Thursday from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. in the Library Conference Room. Occasional special meetings are held in the early evening.

Interviews for these positions will be held at the February 16th Trustee meeting.

Positions Open on the Pierson Library Board of Trustees

The Pierson Library Board of Trustees will be interviewing to fill open Trustee positions in February. Trustees are appointed in April for a three-year term and may serve two consecutive three-year terms. Interested applicants must be a resident of Shelburne.

We are searching for library supporters to help us achieve our vision for a 21st Century Library, creative individuals with an interest in and the time availability to help us meet our fund raising goals, and community leaders that can reach out to Town citizens from all backgrounds.  We would like to hear how you are uniquely qualified to assist us in this exciting adventure!

The Library Board of Trustees is charged with supervising the Library Director, establishing Library policies and procedures, determining and requesting the annual Library budget, and guiding the future of the Library through long-term strategic planning. The Board is composed of seven residents of Shelburne.

The Trustees meet monthly on the third Thursday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the Library Conference Room. Occasional special meetings also may be scheduled. Trustees are encouraged to attend the annual Vermont Library Association Conference held in November at different locations around the state; conference fees and travel are reimbursed. Trustees are also strongly encouraged to attend Town Meeting, the Selectboard budget hearings in December and early January, and occasional Town-sponsored training events.

Interviews for these positions will be held at the February 16th Trustee meeting.

Snow Day Update: Circus Program Cancelled for Today (1/24)

SNOW DAY UPDATE! Attention all of our circus artists: Today’s circus art program with Landa Townsend has been moved to next Tuesday the 31st when we hope to have better weather and travel will be safer. We’re so sorry for the inconvenience, but we hope to see you next week!

Homeschoolers: Friday 1/20 at 10:30 a.m.

Friday morning, 1/20 at 10:30 am! Attention Home School Students! We have a fun Friday morning lined up here at the Pierson Library! Older students discuss Dorothy’s List selection “Echo” and learn to play harmonica with a guest speaker. Younger readers hear this month’s Red Clover nominee “We Forgot Brock” and have fun working with watercolors with guest artist Frances Hoadley.

Library closed on Monday January 16th

The Pierson Library will be closed on Monday January 16th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. day. We will resume normal hours on Tuesday January 17th. The staff and trustees thank all of our amazing patrons for their patience and understanding.
